Denza B5: an off-road hybrid SUV built for everyday Qatar
Most SUVs make you choose. Either they are comfortable and efficient in the city, or they are tough enough for sand and rough tracks. The Denza B5 was designed so you do not have to pick one. It is an off-road hybrid SUV that handles the school run in Doha on electricity and is just as at home on a sandy track at the weekend.
Built for rough ground, not just the car park
Many SUVs that look tough are tuned for city roads. The B5 sits on Denza's DMO platform, which was designed for off-road driving from the start. It has three differential locks, the kind of hardware usually found on dedicated four-wheel-drive vehicles, so power still reaches the wheels with grip when one of them is spinning in loose sand.
Its DiSUS-P intelligent hydraulic suspension adjusts the height and stiffness of each wheel within milliseconds. That means more clearance when the ground gets rough, and a settled, quiet ride once you are back on the road. Underneath, an ultra-rigid underbody protects the battery and chassis.
Electric in the week, long range at the weekend
The B5 pairs a 31.8 kWh Blade Battery with a 1.5-litre turbo engine. Around Doha, the battery alone covers up to 80 km (WLTP), so the commute and the school run can be fully electric if you charge at home.
For longer drives out of the city, the engine takes over and the combined range reaches up to 780 km (WLTP). You never have to plan a trip around a charger. Not sure how this works? Our plug-in hybrid guide explains it in plain terms.
Comfort that matches the capability
A capable SUV should not feel like a work truck inside. The B5 has Nappa leather seats with massage, a 16-speaker Devialet sound system and a quiet cabin built around careful NVH engineering. Retractable side steps make it easy for children and older family members to climb in, and the electric tailgate opens with a button when your hands are full.
Safety built into the structure
The B5 body uses high-strength steel that withstands up to 12 tonnes. Its Blade Battery sits inside a five-layer protection structure, with Blade cells built into the chassis for extra rigidity, and 11 airbags surround every passenger. Is the B5 or the B8 right for you?
The B5 is the five-seater of the Denza range, suited to individuals, couples and smaller families who want real off-road ability in a compact package. If you regularly carry six or seven people, the larger Denza B8 is the better fit. The B5 is also available in a Flagship+ trim, which adds a dedicated passenger-seat screen.
Drive it yourself
Every Denza B5 sold by Mannai is a GCC-specification vehicle with a six-year or 150,000 km manufacturer warranty, an 8-year unlimited-mileage battery warranty, and a three-year or 60,000 km free service plan. The best way to judge it is behind the wheel. Book a Denza B5 test drive at the Denza Qatar showroom in Doha.
